Otaue (=Rice planting) Shinto Ritual in Sumiyoshi-taisha shrine
I had visited to Sumiyoshi-taisha in Osaka-City Sumiyoshi Ward to shoot the Otaue (=Rice planting) Shinto Ritual as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Asset at 14 June 2015. There is located about 5 minutes’ walk from Sumiyoshi-taisha station of Nankai train. Sumiyoshi-taisha shrine has been most popular to people and called "Ichinomiya of Settsu". They say "Settsu" in ancient that is the old country which accounts for northwest of Osaka Prefecture and southeastern of Hyogo Prefecture. Sumiyoshi-taisha shrine is a popular of the top 10 of the New Year's visit to a shrine of Japan.
I arrived around 8:30, and went to Shin-kan hall from the greeting to the shrine office.
In Shin-kan hall, "Chigo", "Ueme" and "Mitoshime" they had come together for get the participation qualification of today's ritual service at 10:30am. "Chigo", "Ueme", "Mitoshime" are name of children and women for role of the festival.
"Yakko", "Furyumusha" and the others went to the main shrine festival from the Shin-kan hall at 1:00pm.
In this ritual, the Shinto priest passed to the rice sprouts to "Ueme"(=Rice planting lady). And "Furyumusha" (=Samurai) was dancing the ritual dance. After all, they went to "Shinden" (=Rice field of Shinto God) .
After they came to around the perimeter of the "Shinden", Matrix began the ritual.
After several ritual was held, it became the order of the Sumiyoshi dance I also went to the road surrounding the "Shinden" (rice fields) together to shoot.
I thank you for everyone of this festival.

I am interested in documenting and introducing the world to traditional Japanese culture. My main motif are the Japanese traditional festival and the environment. The characteristic of my works are simplification of the subject, exaggerated perspective, the color control with a feature, and that is to use as reference the characteristics of Ukiyo-e and I have named to "Digital Ukiyo-e(Registered trademark)". I began photographing at the age of 13 and belongs to The Photographic Society of Japan.
